Translation of text on stamp:

Top: Scleife 20 DDR

Left: Slepo (Sorbian name for Schleife)

Bottom: Sorbische Festtrachten - Swjedźensky Drasty (Sorbian vestments)

The distinct traditional dress styles in the various regions of the Sorbian people have been a curiosity for travelers over time. As the culture overall has reduced through germanization and a general decline in numbers, the traditional dress has remained steadfast in the culture.

This particular traditional dress is seen in the Schleife region of Germany which is threatened by the lignite open-cast mining. Within the region, variations occur; while married women wear green, black and blue colors, children and unmarried woman wear red.
