Additional information:

Built in 1904, the House of Sorbs in Bautzen was regarded as the greatest Sorbian cultural center. With the rise of the Nazi's, the House of Sorbs was confiscated by the Third Reich in the 1930's. Aside from confiscating the cultural center, the Third Reich banned the use of the Sorbian language, disbanded the newspapers, political interests and all other signs of the Sorbian culture. During the 1940's, the S.S. burned the House of Sorbs in Bautzen.
